Chibo Tang is a Managing Partner at Gobi Partners, a leading early-stage venture capital firm in Asia. A well-recognised technology investor, he appeared on the June 2023 cover of Tatler Hong Kong and was named to Tatler Asia’s Most Influential List in 2021, 2023, and 2024. His other recognitions include Forbes China Leaders in Technology and Innovation 2024, China LP Club’s Top 20 Most Influential GP of the Year 2023, and Global Corporate Venturing’s Top 10 Emerging Leaders 2020. In 2025, Forbes China recognised him among the 100 Most Influential Chinese, while China Bridge named him one of the Top Youth Investors.
Chibo joined Gobi in 2009 and has invested in technology startups for more than 15 years. He leads Gobi’s Greater Bay Area (GBA) practice from Hong Kong and manages multiple regional funds. To date, he has invested more than US$200 million across a broad portfolio, including unicorns such as Airwallex, Animoca Brands, AutoX, WeLab, and Xingyun Group.
Before joining Gobi, Chibo began his career at Monitor Group as a management consultant based in China, where he worked on projects across the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East. He later served as Senior Manager, Corporate Strategy, Asia Pacific at the Bosch Group.
Chibo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Harvard College and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). Leading financial media have featured and quoted him, including Forbes, Bloomberg, Financial Times, The New York Times, CNBC, South China Morning Post, DealStreetAsia, Asia Venture Capital Journal, and Hong Kong Economic Journal. He also contributes regularly as a columnist to Capital magazine in Hong Kong, writing on regional investment trends.
