Gobi Partners Sustainability Report 2025

Our fifth Sustainability Report looks at how that belief translated into action in 2025. It covers the capital we deployed, the companies we backed, the progress we measured across our portfolio and the areas where more work remains. It also looks ahead to the next stage of Gobi’s sustainability strategy across Asia.

August 20, 2026

Asia’s growth story is being shaped by rapid technological change, rising environmental pressures and the need for more inclusive economic development. For Gobi Partners, these forces are closely connected. We believe enduring companies are built not only through strong business models, but through the ability to adapt, govern responsibly and create value for the communities and markets around them.

ONE YEAR, A WIDER IMPACT

2025 at a Glance

Behind every investment is a company hiring people, developing technology, entering new markets or solving a problem that matters to the communities it serves. In 2025, Gobi continued to deploy capital across Asia while supporting founders navigating increasingly complex markets.

The report goes deeper into where Gobi invested, how portfolio companies progressed and how sustainability considerations continued to influence investment decisions across the platform.

A STRATEGY ENTERING ITS NEXT PHASE

From building the framework to putting it into practice

Gobi began formalising its sustainability approach in 2018 and has continued to strengthen how these principles are applied throughout the investment lifecycle. By 2025, the focus had shifted. The foundations of ESG 2.0 were already in place. The next challenge was to make the framework more practical, measurable and relevant across Gobi’s regional offices. 2025 became a year of implementation. Gobi refreshed its due diligence process, strengthened term sheet requirements and developed new tools to improve how sustainability performance is assessed across the portfolio. At the same time, the firm began moving towards greater regional responsibility, allowing teams closer to each market to play a larger role while maintaining consistent firmwide standards.

How does a pan-Asian investment firm create local ownership without losing consistency?

The report explores the roadmap.

A BROADER VIEW OF IMPACT

INTRODUCING CORE

The way Gobi thinks about sustainability also evolved in 2025. For years, inclusion, responsible governance and sustainability have been embedded in the firm’s investment philosophy. But the challenges facing Asia’s innovation ecosystems increasingly extend beyond any single issue. Strong businesses depend on strong communities. Opportunity needs to reach more people. Companies need the resilience to navigate uncertainty. Different perspectives can lead to better ideas and better outcomes. This thinking led to the introduction of CORE: Community, Opportunity, Resilience and Equity. CORE joins Circular Economy and TaqwaTech as one of Gobi’s three sustainability investment pillars, providing a broader framework for supporting businesses that can create lasting economic and social value.

Three different lenses, one shared objective: investing in companies that can grow while strengthening the markets and communities around them.

WHEN MORE COMPANIES REPORT, THE PICTURE BECOMES CLEARER

WHAT THE DATA TOLD US

Measuring sustainability is not only about finding positive indicators. It is also about identifying where progress has slowed, where companies need more support and where better data can lead to better decisions. In 2025, more portfolio companies participated in Gobi’s sustainability reporting process, providing a broader view of environmental, social and governance practices across the portfolio.

One area stood out.

83.9%

of respondents reported adopting data-security practices in 2025.

The wider assessment also highlighted areas that require greater attention, including environmental measurement, employee engagement and board-level governance. The full picture is more nuanced than any single statistic.

Where did portfolio companies make progress? Where did performance decline? And where will Gobi focus next?

IMPACT BECOMES REAL AT THE COMPANY LEVEL

FOUNDERS BUILDING WHAT COMES NEXT

Sustainability becomes most tangible through the businesses themselves. Across Gobi’s portfolio, founders are building technologies that address challenges ranging from healthcare access and food resilience to advanced computing and cleaner energy. The 2025 report brings together selected stories from ASEAN, the Greater Bay Area and Pakistan.

VALIANCE HEALTH
Better Healthcare Through Better Infrastructure
Healthcare providers generate vast amounts of data, but fragmented systems can make it difficult to use that information effectively. Valiance Health is developing AI-enabled healthcare infrastructure designed to help hospitals improve operations, strengthen patient engagement and expand access to services. Its work also supports skilled employment across healthcare and technology.

SKYECHIP
Building the Technology Behind the Next Generation of Computing
As demand for AI and high-performance computing grows, semiconductor capabilities are becoming increasingly important to Asia’s technology ambitions. Malaysia-based SkyeChip develops silicon intellectual property and advanced semiconductor solutions for AI, high-performance computing and data-centre applications. Its growth supports both industrial innovation and the development of highly skilled jobs within Malaysia’s semiconductor ecosystem.

NANOSKUNKWORKX (NSWX)
One Material. Multiple Possibilities.
Graphene has potential applications across healthcare, energy and advanced computing.
NanoSkunkWorkX is developing graphene-enabled technologies that support faster healthcare diagnostics, semiconductor innovation and more efficient hydrogen production.
The company shows how deep technology can address several sustainability challenges at once.

These are three of the companies featured in the report.

Others are working across agriculture, climate intelligence, education, financial inclusion and sustainable urban infrastructure.

RESPONSIBILITY ALSO STARTS AT HOME

MEASURING GOBI'S OWN FOOTPRINT

Investing in more sustainable businesses is only part of the equation. Gobi also continues to examine the environmental footprint of operating a cross-border investment platform. With teams working across Asia and other markets, business travel remains an important part of how the firm builds relationships, supports founders and connects ecosystems.

In FY2025–2026:

↓ 23.7%

Air miles travelled

Gobi’s team travelled 471,747 air miles, compared with 618,366 miles in the previous period. That reduction tells only part of the emissions story.

What did it mean for Gobi’s overall business travel footprint?

THE NEXT STAGE

FROM PROGRESS TO OWNERSHIP

A sustainability strategy only creates value when people across an organisation take responsibility for implementing it. Gobi’s next phase will place greater ownership in the hands of its regional teams. The goal is to give local offices more autonomy over sustainability due diligence and portfolio engagement while maintaining shared standards for measurement, governance and responsible investment across the firm.

The 2025 report looks at the steps Gobi plans to take next, including stronger founder education, deeper integration of sustainability metrics into investment decisions and greater accountability across its offices.

2025 SHOWED US WHERE WE STAND. THE NEXT QUESTING IS WHERE WE GO FROM HERE.
