Gobi’s Wing Hu: AI Entrepreneurs And Investors Must Always Have A Respectful Mindset

30 September, 2018

On 26 September, FTChinese and the Fanhai International School of Finance at Fudan University gathered representatives from companies and investors in Shanghai to discuss the infinite possibilities of AI. Gobi’s Managing Director, Wing Hu, was cordially invited to join a panel to share his views about empowering cloud computing for the future.

Wing joined Gobi in 2011. At the firm, he focuses on cloud computing/enterprise, O2O, vehicle-related, smart devices and mobile Internet sectors. Prior to joining Gobi, Wing had several years of experience working for global Fortune 500 companies, such as Dow, Henkel, DuPont, Honeywell and Corning.

Wing believes that cloud computing can never be excluded when having a conversation about AI. He mentioned that for China, the cloud computing boom began in 2011 — when China was headed into a new era of mobile Internet. He believes that 2018 and 2019 will see history repeating itself; the AI industry, just like cloud computing, will evolve from a “royalty” sector to a “commoner” industry.
